The Canberra wine district produces top quality grapes with wine such as the Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier being internationally renowned and on tables in the world’s best restaurants. The top wine of NSW this year, Collector Marked Tree Shiraz, was made from grapes sourced within the Canberra district. Helm’s Riesling has won many medals with gold at the Royal Melbourne Show and trophies at many other shows. Shaw Vineyard Estate’s Cabernet and Cabernet Merlot also won trophies at the 2007 NSW Wine Awards.

Whilst the district is best known for it’s Shiraz and Riesling, most grape varieties are grown and Viognier, Sangiovese, Marsanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay,Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris all attract accolades.
